I felt extremely immersed in the gameplay. I enjoy it so far and will continue to enjoy it. Recommend! 8/10. cool little shooter that is fun but only takes around an hour tops to complete. The devs did fairly well on capturing the doom feel but putting it into a more modernised universe. my only critisim, is that when i beat the boss, nothing happened, the pillar in the middle just span. completing it again, i got the acctual ending.. I didn't like Neon Shadow when I first bought it, but it's growing on me. It's a fun little FPS, with simple mechanics and a challenge that comes from sustained reflex (saves happen at the start of the level, and nowhere else). I recommend.. I'm really digging what Neon Shadow is all about. It's a throwback shooter that reminds me of FPS' from the Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast era (specifically the N64 version of Quake 2, what with all the neon lighting they hit that port with). It's about the fundamentals of 90's shooters; here's some cool weapons, here's a level to run around in with multiple paths & hallways and some secrets, and here's some basic enemies: get through this level and kill the enemies then move onto the next one! It does all those things really well, especially for <$5! Particularly with a controller, it just feels very nostalgic (except for having to invert my aim; that was NORMAL back then, like how it should STILL be :P ). There's also a multiplayer mode. Just like back in the day, it's more of a bare bones bonus than anything you'll spend serious time in. Its for online or you can throw bots in there, which is always nice, though they won't fool anyone into thinking they're human. They're very robotic in their aiming and movement. It would be more fun if the maps were well designed, but some of them don't even have proper continuous paths to keep you moving around a level. Some are just "go to this side, now go to that side", basically. Its weird. Worth a quick checking out, but not a main feature imo. Visually, you can tell it's a mobile port (Ouya port, technically), since it has pretty simple geometry and textures, but again I don't mind that stuff - I wanted it to remind me of N64 games, and this looks like one of the better ones as played through an emulator so you can view it at modern resolutions. Usually moving at the faster/smoother frame rates you saw in Dreamcast shooters like KISS Psycho Circus. One thing that could've stayed in the past was the frame rate problems that crop up when too much action is taking place onscreen. Currently, at least - I'll remove this note if there's a patch that improves this in the future. The game mostly moves smoothly but takes a bit of a dive - sometimes, more than "a bit" - when you hit some explosive barrels when enemies are nearby. If there's a lot of enemies and barrels, expect it to turn into a slideshow for 2-3 seconds or so. Which isn't a deal breaker so much as it is just... inexplicable.Overall, its a simple first person shooter (doesn't even have a jump), but a well made one for a very small price. It doesn't feel like cheap garbage, like how Gameloft makes FPS'; this one actually feels good. You'll be sliding around circle strafing your heart out just like the old days. But it is as throwback as they come; heck it's almost as much a first person Alien Syndrome-type arcade game as it is a love letter to FPS' of the mid-to-late 90's. If you're looking for solid, old-school, console-style FPS action for a small price tag, Neon Shadow is a winner. It definitely delivers a fun time.. TL;DR: Only buy it if have no other FPS to buy at that price. And you have, believe me - it's steam, always something worth buying for 5 bucks (unless you are PalmDesert, in that case you don't need any reviews).Long Version:Simplistic shooter with solid mechanics, great music and stylish albeit primitive visuals.I do not recomment it because it just doesn't belong to PC. All major selling points of Neon Shadow on Ouya and mobile were in it's multiplayer - it had split screen, lan, online and bots even in tablet versions. In comparison to other PC shooters - only split screen is major selling point since most shooters lack it. Guess what? It got cut. What's left is simplistic shooter that does the same things as every other shooter but simplier:- 2.5D gameplay (yes, there is no any Z-axis movement - maps are flat)- up to 4 player multiplayer- "bald guy versus robots" single player- obligatory PC stuff - mouse\/resolution\/rebindable controls.Text book port - even has a FOV slider, let's not make a big deal since those things are nominal and obligatory for PC as a platform. You can play it, but why do you want it? Single player is 'shoot stuff and run to exit' with levels that can be beat in mere minites or sometimes seconds. And unlike Ouya version it's not a party game anymore, it's just an average shooter that tries to make up for lack of content with it's small price. PC version is inferior game to it's mobile counterpart, why would you support it?Well, for PC shooter - Neon Shadow is just a mobile port with resolution settings and mouse support. It might had chance to get big if it had level editor with steam workshop support, achievements, trading cards, split screen, bigger multiplayer maps (and more players), campaign coop, coop survival\/horde mode, etc. You've got an idea, things that extend game's life and actual work and support put into PC version. But there is none. It does not even support cloud saves. All in all you'll have a lot more fun playing original Doom or even Wolf3D.p.s.: Also I'm pretty sure there will be absolutely zero support post-launch so we won't get even split screen to have feature parity for the same price. Hit me up if that'd change - I'll update my review.. Es simple disparar lo que se mueva mientras pasas niveles casi iguales, el online no funciona. Tight, simplified sci-fi FPS. By simple, I mean there is no sprint, crouch, jump. You can move, aim and shoot, and use four different weapons that you collect. It's pretty basic. There are not a lot of enemies or environments.Clearly the developers were very focused, because the gameplay is quite nice. Although the levels can be a bit disorienting, there is a 3d arrow pointing the way to the next objective. There is definitely a lot of neon and music to match.I'll recommend it only to people who are looking for a very simple and short game with competent gameplay very reminiscent of late '90's, early 00's gaming. There is also LAN and online multiplayer, but I didn't try that.. The game is a solid doom clone. It is extremely short, however. I managed to beat the game in only ~1 hour.
